It would do us no harm to remember, oftener than we do, that vices are sometimes only virtues carried to excess!
Charles Dickens
That`s (virtues carried to excess to become vices) precisely what seems to have happened to various Human Righters all around the world. They seem to have lost any touch with any common sense, let alone wisdom. Founded with and grounded on the best of intentions (remember what the road to Hell is paved with?), they have come to believe what they profess is Absolute Good...
But in real life no pure Absolutes exist, and even if they do, they mean the worst oppression possible. Insanity, too, as often as not.
And extremities meet. Always.
We need Common Sense International to protect common sense (which includes both rights and obligations, and, most importantly, responsibility, which Established Human Righters tend to shun) and to preserve whatever sanity is still left, if any. I`ve even wondered whether it should be Sanity International, but, for a variety of reasons, I like CSI better than SI.
Alas, an organization like that is not really possible. See, should Common Sense prevail, most (if not all) of the Powers That Be would have to go, so of course no PTB will ever allow things to come to that. But the worst thing about it is, should the particular CSI come to life and - incredibly - prosper, it would eventually come to believe itself to be an Absolute Good, which would mean the end of the very Common Sense they are supposed to protect.
For some weird reason, folks must needs overdo...
