The Sound of a Spider Line
Звук павутинки
by Вiктор Близнець
This thin booklet is a tiny miracle, again. Being a miracle, it is difficult to describe, but I`ll try.
Maybe the best way to describe it is this: A young child looking at the world with his eyes wide open (even when he closes them) and wondering at what is and is not there. Only what is not there is there, too! A thin ray of sunlight piercing the darkness in a room is full of tiny dancing things indeed, and could you exactly say the things are not alive, or not merry? Lots of small busy critters do live under an old porch, so how do you know they cannot have their own city down there?
The faithful dog killed by a madman still follows the little owner, playing with him and protecting him. Mam, I`m not alone. I`ll go with Rex…
It`s about listening, too. The name Adam is fat, but the name Nina is thin. And one can hear the tune sung by a spider line.
Nothing much happens in the book, and yet… lots of things do happen! The reader might want to discern between the real reality and the imagined reality. But is that really necessary? One of the things making this book so wonderful is the two intertwining!
The sad thing about the book is the modern children most probably won`t read it. No Star Wars, no Aliens, no robots, no laptops, no smartphones… Pah!
